There’s nothing quite like the charm of an open fire to ward off the winter chill. The trouble is, the romance quickly cools when it comes to chopping the firewood, sweeping out ashes and explaining to the neighbors why their house smells of smoke. Thankfully it’s possible to dodge the draft and relish the romance of an open flame. Lets take a look at some of the hassle-free options to warm your winter.

With just  a little “renovation” (I love that Word!!) anyone can have a fireplace! Some of my favorite fireplaces recently are linear fireplaces. Electric or direct vent gas they give warmth and ambiance to your home.

There are a number of unique aspects to linear fireplaces. First, because of the way they’re designed and constructed, they can be placed in diverse locations throughout the house. They fit into walls at virtually any height, creating a tasteful ambiance in every style from rustic to a modern.

Rather than a standard square firebox, linear fireplaces come in wide designs with a narrower viewing height. An ideal addition to any home, these fireplaces allow for a much wider-than-usual view of the dancing flames inside.

Some people think a linear fireplace is only for a minimalist modern design. Belonging in homes with stark white walls, perfectly clean lines, and no space for clutter, children or let’s face it, life. Well I’m here to show you how warm and transitional this fireplace is…

A natural beauty this linear fireplace is an impressive and rustic focal point in this living room. With a to-die-for hearth to add interest, this is a great jumping off place for this rooms pallet.

Paint the wall over the mantel the same color as the surround, it will give the fireplace more presence in a room. I’m Loving this white wonderland,  oval tufted ottoman and soft blue throw pillows…

Floor-to-ceiling stacked stone in cream and grey tones are a spectacular setting for an elevated gas fireplace. The contemporary focal point adds both visual and physical warmth to the room.

A stunning view. This sophisticated room allows the outside space to be part of the conversational area. The fireplace is flanked with windows that add depth and dimension, as well as light into the room.

These rooms are show-stopping, traditional and modern arrangements that boast long linear gas fireplaces. Not only are they eye-catching, but they bring a stunning warmth into these spaces.

At the Times Union Home Expo, visit Matchless Stove and Chimney booth 140-143! They will be here to answer all your questions about which is the best fireplace for your home. No one makes it easier to enhance the warmth, comfort and value of your home than Matchless!
